How to Avoid Getting Drugged in Colombia

Chances are if you are reading this you are a tinder/bumble/hinge connoisseur.  A gringo who most likely does not have the confidence to pick up Colombian women in Spanish so you decided to turn to the dating apps and chat gpt for the game you lack.

It’s ok lil guy, not all of us can be bilingual beasts… I don’t judge you … I understand… the appetite for the culture is too much to resist  so you have to make due with the new 21st century tools at hand to see whatever fruits you can pick.  Apps & GPT however will only get you through the door, however, its the flow you’ll need with Colombian women once face to face but that’ll be for another article!

In any case, I want to let you know that if you will be on dating apps in Colombia that this is the number one way to get drugged in Colombia by “grilla” Colombian girls. Grillas =Hood girls.  You want to get go out on dates with fresas.  Fresas = Good girls.  With that said… nobody deserves t0 get drugged, so Im here to help you avoid getting drugged in Colombia in the first place.

I’ll explain in this article some personal stories, some gringo stories direct from the source of bad situations, and explain to you everything you need to avoid on the side of the road with your kidneys missing.  (Yeah it’s Colombia bro) but before we begin there lets start with understanding the new trendy scopolamine drug all the baddies are going crazy about.

What is Scopolamine? (a.k.a. Burundanga)

Scopolamine isn’t some mystical Colombian voodoo powder that activates when a girl locks eyes with you on Calle del Arsenal.
It’s a real pharmaceutical drug that’s been around forever… Colombia just happens to have perfected its street use. So avoid getting drugged in Cololmbia.

Medically, it’s used for motion sickness and anesthesia.
On the street? It turns fully functioning adults into walking NPCs.

You don’t pass out. That’s the scary part.
You’re awake. You’re responsive. You’re just… not you anymore.

You’ll talk.
You’ll comply.
You’ll unlock your phone.
You’ll walk to the ATM.
You’ll hand over your wallet like a polite little gentleman.

No violence. No chaos. Just vibes and obedience.

What does it do?

Simple version: it shuts off your free will and your memory.

People under scopolamine:

  • Lose short-term memory

  • Become extremely suggestible

  • Lose fear and judgment

  • Look totally normal to others

  • Remember little to nothing afterward

Most victims say they felt calm, foggy, trusting — not “drugged.”
Which is why no one steps in. You look fine.

Can it kill you?

Yes.
Not always.
But absolutely yes.

Deaths usually come from overdose, mixing with alcohol, heart issues, or being abandoned afterward. Street doses aren’t measured — whoever gives it to you is guessing.

How long does it last?

  • Kicks in: 15–60 minutes

  • Peak effects: 2–6 hours

  • Brain fog & memory gaps: 12–24 hours

  • Fully back to normal: 1–3 days

Some people feel off for weeks. Your brain hates this drug.

How does it get into you?

Mostly through:

  • Drinks

  • Alcohol

  • Cigarettes or joints

  • Food

Powder-in-the-face and skin contact are rarer but possible.

No, someone brushing past you won’t drug you.
Yes, someone handling your drink or cigarette absolutely can.

What does it look like?

That’s the fun part — you won’t see it.

It can be:

  • White powder

  • Colorless liquid

  • Tasteless

  • Odourless

So how do you avoid getting drugged in Colombia?

You want to be vigilant on dating apps, when going out, and coming across overly friendly people in Colombia.  It’s a shame to say this, especially since genuine Colombians are some of the nicest people you will meet but you should always be suspicious of peoples friendliness in Colombia.  More so depending on what cities you are in, random nice people in a tough city like Bogota?… sus…. Medellin? 50/50 chance… Cartagena?.. very touristy place so more chances of genuine friendliness. Check this out for more in depth read on scams in Colombia.

Dating Apps

You want to make sure you judge girls by their cover from their dating profile pictures.  If your thinking with your second head your already in trouble.  Here are some things to look out for the obvious red flags on girls dating profiles”

  • Tattoos or piercings
  • Over the top Plastic Surgery
  • Escort like outfits
  • Tempting almost nude photos
  • Love bombing

This is by no means written to offend any women… However for the men staying on the site of precaution these are the obvious red flags.  Not all women with tattoos or piercings are going to drug you, however keep this in your notes as you start getting to know the girl.

You want to also make sure you get her personal socials, instagram is best to see legitimacy of the history of the account.  No pictures, or recent pictures, red flag.  If she offers you whats app, or states she doesn’t have instagram (not unlikely) but not good either.  I usually communicate on whats app after I have been DM’ing on insta for a while, if I see disappearing messages turned on or no whats app pic it usually raises a brow but this isn’t enough for too much concern.  Only if they check off one of the red flags listed above is where I’ll usually not even bother to continue as I want to avoid getting drugged in Colombia.

The next thing you want to be careful is the setting of the date.  Here are some things when setting up the date to avoid getting drugged in Colombia:

  • Do not set up a sate in any estrato 4 or below (stay in the safe 5 and 6 neighbourhoods)
  • Do not let her pick the place (Be a man, pick the restaurant)
  • Avoid Nightclubs for first date
  • Do not let her bring any friends

How to get the fresas?

Now on dating apps in Colombia you want to find the good girls because your a good guy…. right?

Let me explain to you what good girls will usually do, say, or act like for you to start seeing green flags.

First off, on dating apps in Colombia you will never find good girls from estrato 5 or 6.  These girls are typically the European or Arab descendants (lighter in complexion) now latinas that come from well off families.  These girls would be caught dead being on any of these apps (They cannot ruin their reputation).

You will never meet these girls unless you meet them in person and spit some game, but even then it’s not enough because they hate passport bros, usually need to meet them through friends of friends, want to see you actually settled down here, and prefer you know Spanish or have some latino family roots.  If you do find a estrato 5 or 6 girl, she’s most likely got some extra loving for you, but hey love is in the eye of the beholder and comes in all different shapes and sizes!

Sooo….. when you are on dating apps in Colombia you will most likely be dating girls from estrato’s 1-4.  That’s ok and thats not a bad thing.  Preferably I prefer these type of women, they are much more grateful and less high maintenance.  These girls live in the rougher not so touristy areas of Colombia so this is why it is important you set up the place of the date to avoid getting drugged in Colombia.

Green flags to look for in a serious girl that could maybe become a girlfriend:

  • She doesn’t text fast (Usually busy works a job)
  • Gives you instagram without hesitation
  • Responds back via voice notes
  • Has bio filled out with a sweet description
  • Is a little afraid of you (Thinks your a tinder swindler)

Yeah thats pretty much it I guess.  If you read this you should now be able to avoid getting drugged in Colombia! So stay safe out there!  Don’t get Scopolamined out there!
